Changning district is hosting The Rainbow in My Heart exhibition until Aug 7, marking the first time artworks from the Songling Painting Studio in Liyang, Jiangsu province, have been displayed in Shanghai.

The exhibition commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.

It showcases over 100 artworks by more than 40 artists from Liyang. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of artistic forms, including traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, pastel painting, bronze sculpting, and wood root carving. Some of these pieces have even been featured in national exhibitions.

The artists bring the lush landscapes and unique cultural heritage of Liyang to life through their distinctive styles. Notable among these is The Most Beautiful Scenery by Pan Hongguang, which captures Liyang's natural beauty and the hardworking spirit of its people with delicate brushwork.

A highlight of the exhibition is the bronze sculpture Winter Perch, which draws significant attention. Co-creator Zhu Huijuan explains that bronze sculpting is a recognized intangible cultural heritage of Changzhou, Jiangsu province. This intricate piece, which took nearly a year to create, vividly depicts elements like the red-billed blue magpie, pine needles, and pine cones using complex techniques such as engraving, forging, and annealing.
