The transformative project Shanghai Underpass Hubs in Shanghai's Changning district, designed by the Chinese team FISH DESIGN, recently won the 2025 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Professional Award, often hailed as the Oscars of landscape architecture.

Encompassing the newly established Sports Hub and the Gathering Hub, Shanghai Underpass Hubs reimagine neglected spaces beneath overpasses along the Suzhou Creek, a corridor integral to Shanghai's industrial and cultural history. The project transforms them into dynamic public areas, and by repurposing industrial materials and implementing sustainable strategies, offers a fresh approach to urban development.

Located at the intersection of Jiangsu North Road and Wanhangdu Road, the hub draws on the legacy of industrial tubes to create a distinctive urban landmark that fosters community interaction while paying tribute to the area's industrial heritage.
