Rucker Park Beixinjing branch upgrades with multi-sport courts
What happens when a tennis court meets Suzhou Creek and finds itself beneath one of Shanghai's most beautiful bridges?
The answer lies in the newly transformed "Zebra zone" at Rucker Park Beixinjing branch, where creativity and athletic energy merge in a striking urban sports space.
Following the success of the park's "Flamingo zone", which was recently converted into a full tennis court, the "Zebra zone" has now been reimagined as a half-tennis, half-soccer venue. Located beneath the Zhonghuan Bridge, the area feels surprisingly open and airy, with natural light streaming through the structure above.
The design immediately catches the eye. One of the courts is finished in vivid purple, echoing the color used at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Beyond its striking appearance, the upgraded area includes two professional double tennis courts and a dedicated pickleball court, complete with shaded seating for players and spectators to relax between games.
Players have already begun flocking to the site. Some come alone to practice their serves with ball machines, scattering tennis balls across the court in quiet focus; others arrive in pairs, savoring the rhythm of volleys across the spacious doubles courts.
The transformation, however, extends beyond tennis. Rucker Park Beixinjing branch has been comprehensively upgraded across multiple sports. The newly renovated badminton hall now features six international-standard PVC courts, ensuring stable shuttle speeds and smooth swings. Basketball enthusiasts can take to seven courts, including one full-size competition court, while two lush-turf soccer fields invite players to run freely and comfortably.
