With Changning district at its core, the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District has launched an action plan to develop a cluster of global supply chain management centers, promoting digitalization, green transformation, and internationalization across supply chain operations.

The plan supports the establishment of two types of supply chain management centers — production-oriented and service-oriented — both aimed at optimizing cross-border resource allocation through advanced technologies. Production-oriented centers, represented by companies such as Bosch and Unilever, focus on integrating supply chain resources to improve overall value creation and operational efficiency. Service-oriented centers, including ZKH Industrial Supply and YTO Express, specialize in functions such as procurement, logistics, and inventory management, providing professional services to upstream and downstream enterprises.

Benefiting from comprehensive transport connectivity, a favorable trade environment, and a strong industrial foundation, Hongqiao International CBD is well-positioned to serve as a hub for global supply chain management.

Formulated through extensive research and business consultations, the action plan seeks to enhance enterprises' global supply chain capabilities, promote more efficient cross-border industrial layouts, and align supply chain operations with high-standard international trade rules.

The plan also emphasizes cluster-based development to encourage collaboration and innovation, while deepening integration with global supply chain networks through improved international services and the adoption of global standards.

Looking ahead, Hongqiao will focus on digital transformation, financial innovation, and talent development, leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain to modernize supply chain management and attract high-end professionals.
