An AI-powered healthcare innovation forum was held in Shanghai's Changning district on March 11, bringing together leading experts from academia and industry. Discussions focused on frontier topics such as the future development of medical robotics, AI-driven drug design and discovery, and AI agents reshaping future hospitals, outlining a clear vision for the deep integration of AI and healthcare.

Officials from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission said the city will use the forum as an opportunity to speed up the development of AI platforms and data-driven solutions, aiming to unlock the value of medical data and build a scalable "Shanghai solution" for smart healthcare. Changning also outlined plans to integrate AI across the full healthcare chain, from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and health management, while fostering a more open and collaborative innovation ecosystem.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine will deepen cooperation with the district, supporting research, talent development, and the translation of AI breakthroughs into clinical application.

At the event, Shanghai Tongren Hospital was officially designated a tertiary Grade A hospital, a move expected to strengthen regional healthcare capacity and provide more scenarios for AI applications. Both sides also agreed to advance a new round of cooperation to further bridge research and clinical practice.
