Shanghai springs to life with 12 major free exhibitions
This spring, Shanghai is hosting 12 major exhibitions, spanning literature, aesthetics, Dunhuang culture, and paper art, all open to the public free of charge. Below is a list of each exhibition.
In Changning district
1. The Two Peaks: Liu Haisu and Yan Wenliang – A Major Exhibition on Modern Art Education

When: March 16-May 10
Where: Liu Haisu Art Museum, No 1609 West Yan'an Road, Changning district
A major exhibition on modern art education marking the 130th anniversary of Liu Haisu's birth. Through paintings and archival materials, it highlights the achievements and educational legacy of two pioneers of modern Chinese art.
2. Art for the People: The 65th Anniversary of the Academic and Art Exhibition of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy

When: Now-April 6
Where: Cheng Shifa Art Museum, No 1398 Hongqiao Road, Changning district; Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, No 197 Yueyang Road, Xuhui district.
This anniversary exhibition is presented across two venues. In Changning, visitors can see classic works by established painters at Cheng Shifa Art Museum, while the Xuhui venue focuses on more contemporary creations.
3. The Great Art of Dunhuang: Dunhuang Culture and Art Public Benefit Exhibition

When: Now-March 31
Where: Yi Fung Place, No 199 Xianxia Road, Changning district.
A chance to experience Dunhuang without leaving Shanghai. The exhibition includes recreated Mogao Grottos and reproductions of murals, offering an immersive look at the art and culture of Dunhuang.
