Shanghai University of International Business and Economics celebrates UN Chinese Language Day
Shanghai's Changning District Talent Service Center and the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics celebrated the 17th UN Chinese Language Day on April 20 at the Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Talents.
The event kicked off a month-long cultural program blending Chinese language learning, traditional Chinese medicine, tea culture, intangible cultural heritage, and more.
Two new initiatives — the Cultural Workshop and the Chinese Station — were introduced during the launch ceremony and will provide foreign professionals and international residents with immersive cultural activities and tiered language services.
Following the ceremony, participants joined the first Cultural Workshop session, which featured an interactive introduction to TCM. Medical staff from Tianshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine demonstrated basic diagnostic methods and wellness practices, providing overseas guests with a closer look at Chinese medical culture.
Over the coming weeks, the month-long program will feature 13 activities, including Chinese conversation sessions, intangible cultural heritage experiences, short video contests, reading programs, and volunteer services, all designed to promote cultural exchange through language.
By hosting the event at the Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Talents, Changning continues to expand services for the international community and explore new ways to connect language learning with cultural experience.
