AI forum in Changning highlights AI as key driver of industrial transformation

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping industries, business models, and economic growth patterns, said attendees from academia, financial institutions and the technology sector at an AI-themed event held in Shanghai's Changning district on May 24.

The event, held under the framework of the Peking University's entrepreneurship education program, brought together more than 200 researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and corporate representatives to discuss AI technology trends, industrial upgrading and the development of regional innovation ecosystems.

Participants said the focus of the AI industry is shifting from technological breakthroughs to the large-scale integration of AI into the real economy. They highlighted the importance of building stronger connections among universities, startups, industrial application scenarios and financial resources to accelerate commercialization and industrial adoption.

Speakers at the event shared insights into AI applications in sectors including robotics, intelligent manufacturing, semiconductors, energy and industrial software. Representatives from the financial sector also discussed how technology finance is playing a growing role in supporting innovation-driven industries.

An AI development initiative was launched by Peking University Entrepreneurship Training Camp and Changning district during the event, aiming at strengthening cooperation in project incubation, innovation and talent services in Changning.

A new alliance supported by Peking University alumni enterprises was also established during the event. Focusing on areas including artificial intelligence and digital technologies, the alliance aims to strengthen collaboration among member companies in technology research, industrial coordination and investment cooperation.

In a roundtable discussion, participants exchanged views on issues including technology commercialization, industrial collaboration and the expansion of real-world AI applications. Several attendees noted that Changning has developed favorable conditions for AI industrialization thanks to its strong digital economy, innovation ecosystem and high concentration of technology enterprises.

The event also included startup roadshows and saw participating companies and investors visit innovation parks, incubators and technology enterprises in the district to learn more about Changning's industrial development environment and support services for AI-related businesses.
