Changning empowers young talent with going-global skills
More than 40 young talents from around the world completed a four-week training camp in Shanghai's Changning district on June 7, part of local efforts to cultivate globally minded professionals and support Chinese companies going global.
The "Go Global" International Youth Talent Training Camp was designed to equip young professionals with the practical skills and international perspectives increasingly sought by businesses pursuing global growth.
Over eight sessions, participants explored topics ranging from globalization trends and overseas market strategies to cross-cultural collaboration, brand communication, and international business operations. The participants were selected from nearly 450 applicants, representing 25 countries and regions across Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and South America.
The camp emphasized hands-on learning through real-world business scenarios. Working in multicultural teams, participants addressed challenges faced by companies entering overseas markets, developing practical solutions for brand localization, cross-cultural social media storytelling, market entry and trust-building strategies, and global entrepreneurship for one-person companies and small startup teams.
The program featured four practical projects centered on common challenges confronting Chinese brands abroad. Teams conducted market research, designed localization strategies, and developed actionable proposals tailored to different target markets.
For many participants, the experience extended beyond the classroom. Through mentorship sessions, company visits, case studies, and team collaboration, they gained firsthand exposure to real business needs while strengthening their ability to work across cultures and communicate in diverse international environments.
The training camp forms part of Changning's broader efforts to cultivate internationally minded talent as Shanghai continues to strengthen its role as an international business hub. Leveraging the Hongqiao area's growing concentration of headquarters and internationally oriented enterprises, the district is fostering closer connections among businesses, professional organizations, universities, and global talent networks.
By creating more opportunities for young people to engage directly with international business practices, Changning aims to help emerging talent move from understanding globalization to actively participating in it, while providing companies with a stronger pipeline of professionals capable of operating across markets and cultures.
