WAIC forum explores AI-powered low-altitude economy

The Low-Altitude Economy Forum, part of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, was held in Shanghai's Changning district on July 18, exploring the latest AI-driven innovations in the sector.

Several key initiatives were announced at the forum. Shanghai launched the development of an advanced manufacturing cluster for low-altitude eVTOL equipment, with Changning, Minhang, and Qingpu among its main development areas.

The joint development of a national innovation platform integrating industry and education in low-altitude technology engineering was also launched. The platform will support talent development, technology research and development, commercialization, and industry services.

Shanghai also unveiled a map highlighting eight typical low-altitude economy application scenarios across urban management, industrial operations, low-altitude transport, and commercial services.

Experts shared insights on AI-powered navigation, satellite internet, and the commercialization of next-generation aircraft, while local companies showcased their latest low-altitude technologies.
