More than 40 students and faculty members from overseas universities, including Cornell University and the University of Chicago, visited Shanghai's Changning district on July 22 as part of its 2026 global talent program.

Designed to strengthen connections with overseas talent, the program introduces participants to Changning's innovation ecosystem, talent policies and career opportunities through policy briefings, panel discussions, job-matching sessions, and site visits.

During the opening ceremony, district officials presented Changning's latest talent support policies, while representatives from a youth innovation center in East Hongqiao highlighted entrepreneurship programs, including the Hongqiao Overseas Innovation Bay and innovation competitions aimed at supporting global entrepreneurs.

The event created opportunities for direct engagement between overseas students, government departments, and local businesses. Companies including Black Lake Technologies and Junxiaobai met with participants to discuss recruitment needs and career opportunities, helping students gain a better understanding of the district's fast-growing innovation industries and job market.

As part of the program, participants visited the Shanghai Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Talents to learn about Changning's integrated talent services, which support international professionals throughout every stage of their journey — from relocation and settlement to employment and entrepreneurship. They also toured leading local companies like Black Lake Technologies to gain firsthand insights into the district's strengths in digital manufacturing, innovation, and modern business services.

From July 23 to 25, the program featured university-enterprise forums, recruitment events, and career consultations, further strengthening partnerships between overseas universities and Changning companies while creating more opportunities for international talent to study, work, and innovate in the district.
