Changning expands transit micro-hub network linking rail, buses, and greenways

October 16, 2026

Changning district has expanded its transit micro-hub network, with the Kaixuan hub now fully operational alongside the Hongqiao and Shuicheng Road–Xianxia Road hubs, improving connections among rail, buses, and greenways.

Kaixuan hub: Located near Exit 1 of West Yan'an Road Metro Station, it includes the new Kaixuan Bridge, which links Tianshan Park, Haisu Green Space, the metro station, and the No 909 bus stop, forming a pedestrian route from the metro exit to the greenway so passengers can reach buses without crossing busy roads. New waiting seats and tactile paving have been added to the No 909 bus stop.

Hongqiao hub: A bus-and-rail micro-hub opened in late 2025, linking the Hongqiao Road–Gubei Road bus stop and Exit 1 of Yili Road Metro Station. Its covered walkway features single-sided supports and an ETFE membrane canopy with color-changing lights; an electronic screen displays real-time bus arrivals.

Shuicheng Road–Xianxia Road hub: Built by Jiushi Bus Group and opened in early 2026, the hub serves bus routes 861, 1217, and 1251. It also has shared-bike parking and a taxi stand, making it easy to transfer among buses, taxis, and shared bikes. A shelter features themed imagery, while an air-conditioned rest area with water dispensers and microwaves serves sanitation workers, couriers, and delivery riders. In July, a wall separating the hub from Shuixia Park was removed, allowing passengers to walk straight into the park.

Transit micro-hubs are part of Changning's efforts to create a more refined, people-oriented public transport system and strengthen its 15-minute community life circle. More are planned during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period.
