Located on Wukang Road in Shanghai, this nearly century-old garden-style Western restaurant seamlessly blends Shanghainese charm with modern cuisine.

Under the red brick dome, sunlight filters through the plane trees, casting dappled shadows on the teakwood floor. Diners savor creative Italian dishes amid carved column galleries and nostalgic glass windows. The chef skillfully reinvents traditional flavors like smoked bamboo shoots and slow-cooked, thin slices of beef, complemented by freshly picked rosemary from the terrace garden.

As night falls, crystal chandeliers illuminate the ballroom from the 1920s, where a specially crafted sherry cocktail dances with the sizzle of steak in your mouth, as if echoing the faint singing from the phonograph.

Richard Restaurant opened its doors in the early 20th century on Foochow Road (now Fuzhou Road) in Shanghai and is renowned on the Bund to this day.

From rooting on Guangyuan Road in 1981 to a magnificent transformation in 2024, Richard Restaurant has always been synonymous with gourmet cuisine and nostalgia. It now continues that legacy in a new light.

This spring, Richard Restaurant is adorned with romance, with rose branches entwined around the bar, buds waiting to bloom, and, as night falls, warm yellow lights cascade down, creating a dreamy atmosphere with an interplay of light and shadow.

Richard's "old trio" carries memories of Shanghai-style Western cuisine: the golden crispy fried pork chop dipped in premium spicy soy sauce; the amber-rich Russian soup; and the creamy, cloud-like, old-fashioned potato salad.
