Spider-Man stars ate here: Two Shanghai restaurants to try
During their late July promotional trip for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland and Zendaya visited two restaurants in Shanghai. They dined at Fu He Hui in Changning district and Wei Xiang Zhai in Huangpu district — two very different restaurants that reflect the diversity of Shanghai's dining scene.
Fu He Hui
Housed in a historic villa on a tree-lined street, Fu He Hui is considered one of China's premier vegetarian restaurants. It has held two Michelin stars and three Black Pearl diamonds for several consecutive years and was ranked No 11 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list this March.
The menu embodies a seasonal eating philosophy, changing quarterly to feature seasonal ingredients from mountains and fields. Each dish is crafted with a refined, creative touch that emphasizes the natural flavors of the ingredients.
The summer menu features seasonal produce such as peaches, luffa, lotus root, and mushrooms.

Wei Xiang Zhai
Wei Xiang Zhai is a nearly century-old, 37-square-meter noodle shop with only 11 tables, famous for its sesame paste noodles. The $2 bowl of noodles gained viral fame after Tom Holland and Zendaya visited the restaurant twice during their stay and praised it in interviews. Dubbed "Spider-Man noodles", the dish now draws long lines and an increasing number of international visitors.
The recipe has remained unchanged for decades. The sesame paste is a finely balanced blend of peanut and sesame, leaving a delicate, sweet finish. The noodles are made from custom-milled flour, with a springy texture and a rich wheat aroma. Another popular item is the soy-braised pork chop with house-made chili oil.
