Yuyuan Garden
Yuyuan Garden is an extensive, traditional Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in Huangpu district, Shanghai.
Yuyuan Garden was originally a private garden built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The Chinese word yu means "peace" and "health" — the garden's name Yuyuan embodies "pleasure and joy for the elderly".
With over 40 serene scenic spots comprised of pavilions, rocks and ponds, the garden is now a key site under State-level protection.
Moreover, Yuyuan Garden is connected to the City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden Malls. The temple, market and garden are seamlessly integrated, combining temple activities, folk traditions, leisure, shopping, dining, sightseeing and cultural activities.
