3. Lotus roots and seeds

Lotus roots and seeds are popular seasonal ingredients in early autumn. Tender lotus root has a crisp texture and works well in stir-fries and cold dishes, while fresh lotus seeds have a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Dried lotus plumules are also commonly brewed as tea. In traditional Chinese dietary culture, different parts of the lotus are also valued for their cooling qualities.

4. Tianhua Yulu Shuang

This traditional snack is a century-old element of the intangible cultural heritage of Luodian town. Made entirely by hand from Chinese snake gourd, mint, and rice, it appears as a white, frost-like powder that melts in the mouth. Its refreshing mint flavor makes it particularly suited to the lighter tastes of early autumn.
