Electronic Port Visa
Service overview: Foreign nationals who are invited to Shanghai by Shanghai-based enterprises and public institutions and who meet the port visa eligibility requirements may apply for electronic port visas of the following categories: F (Visitor), M (Business), R (Talent), Z (Work), and S2 (Short-term Private Affairs), and enter China through any of Shanghai's open ports.

Required documents
Basic application materials:
1. Electronic Port Visa Application Letter issued by the inviting entity;
2. Applicant's valid passport (entire booklet, including blank pages);
3. One 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color digital photo taken within the past six months;
4. Electronic Port Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China;
5. Application Form Declaration Signature document. If the current passport was issued within the past six months, the previous passport must also be submitted in its entirety.
Different visa types require corresponding application materials. Please check the website of the Online Platform for Government Affairs of the Exit-Entry Administration Corps of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau. Except for the Application Form Declaration Signature document and the digital photo, which must be in JPG format, all other application materials must be in PDF format.

Shanghai-based enterprises and public institutions must use their CA digital certificate (Legal Entity One Pass) to log in to the service website.
② Electronic Port Visa application
📧 Email verification
Before applying for an electronic port visa, an email address must be entered and verified. The verification remains valid for six months, after which re-verification is required. The verified email address is primarily used to receive application-related notifications.
💻 How to apply
First, download the Electronic Port Visa Application Form and the Application Form Declaration Signature document, and send both to the invited foreign national. The foreign national must complete the Electronic Port Visa Application Form electronically, print and sign the Application Form Declaration Signature document, and then take a photo of or scan the signed document.
The foreign national must return the electronic version of the Electronic Port Visa Application Form and the image of the signed Application Form Declaration Signature document to the inviting entity.
The inviting entity then logs in to the website to submit the application. Application information may be imported from the electronic version of the Electronic Port Visa Application Form or entered manually. The relevant application materials must also be uploaded, with the Application Form Declaration Signature document and the digital photo in JPG format and all other application materials in PDF format.
③ How to pay
After the Electronic Port Visa application is approved (the general approval process takes five calendar days; if the visa is urgently needed, call 12367 for consultation), the Shanghai port visa authorities will issue an electronic acceptance receipt and send a notification via email or SMS. Log in to the website promptly to view the receipt and pay the visa fee. The visa preparation process begins once payment is completed. The electronic port visa is valid for a single entry, with an entry validity of 15 days from the date the visa is produced, including that day, and a period of stay not exceeding 30 days.
④ How to obtain the electronic port visa
The Shanghai port visa authorities will issue an electronic port visa for an approved application once the visa fee has been paid. After issuance, a notification will be sent by email or SMS. The inviting entity must then log in to the website to download the Confirmation Letter as a PDF file and send it to the applicant. The applicant may save the Confirmation Letter on an electronic device or print it out.
