Shanghai, Hamburg eye closer legislative exchanges

Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, met with Carola Veit, president of the Hamburg Parliament, in Shanghai on April 14.

Huang said the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress is willing to take the 40th anniversary of the friendship city relationship between Shanghai and Hamburg as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges with the Hamburg Parliament.

She called for enhanced mutual learning in legislative practices and deeper cooperation in areas including port logistics, green and low-carbon development, and education and culture, to make new contributions to the development of China-Germany relations.

Veit said she hopes the two cities will carry forward their long-standing friendship, achieve higher-level mutual benefits, and inject fresh vitality into their development.
