Shanghai opens new customization center at Greenland Bund
Shanghai has unveiled a new destination for customization with the opening of the Greenland Bund Global Customization Center. Building on the success of the South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market, the center is designed to further strengthen the city's position as a hub for tailor-made products.
Located in Phases II and III of Greenland Bund in Dongjiadu, near the South Bund area, the center spans about 10,000 square meters. It will focus on high-end custom clothing, including qipao, suits, and wedding dresses, while also expanding into jewelry, accessories, consumer electronics, and exhibitions of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
Among the first brands to establish a presence at the center are renowned qipao maker Manloulan and technology-driven silk brand The Silk Inc.
The Silk Inc is one of the youngest brands at the center. The company has attracted attention for its customized silk products and is working to make Chinese silk more appealing to younger and international consumers. It now collaborates with more than 50 partner stores in China and overseas, while its outlets in Huangpu district have recorded strong sales.
Manloulan is one of Shanghai's best-known qipao brands and a leading name in Shanghai-style high-end fashion. It is a designated protection unit for the traditional craft of Chinese formal dressmaking, which is recognized as intangible cultural heritage. The company also participated in drafting national qipao standards and has received numerous honors, including recognition among the first recipients of the Shanghai Brand designation.
The customization center also plans to launch a special zone for international products introduced through the China International Import Expo, featuring items such as Sweden's Dala horses, Argentina's yerba mate tea, and jewelry from Colombia.
