Huangpu district brought its "Shanghai Style" customization service to Paris on June 12, showcasing local tailoring and embroidery craftsmanship.

A joint runway presentation by Baromon menswear and Xiuniang silk womenswear showcased 18 Shanghai-style haute couture looks. The collection combined Fengbang tailoring, a traditional craft from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, with Suzhou embroidery from Jiangsu province. Featuring both qipao-inspired dresses and tailored suits, the collection highlighted distinct approaches to garment construction and craftsmanship.

Among the guests was Anne-Marie Sargueil, president of the French Academy of Design, who noted Huangpu's prominent role in Shanghai's custom tailoring industry. She also praised the district's rich craftsmanship heritage and its commitment to international design exchange.

The program also included two presentations focused on traditional craftsmanship. A tailor from Baromon demonstrated how a client's body shape and posture are carefully assessed to achieve a precise fit, while an embroiderer from Xiuniang explained how a silk thread can be divided into as many as 32 finer strands to create intricate embroidery patterns. Both emphasized the importance of meticulous handcraft techniques and attention to detail.

During the event, Shanghai New World Holding and French luxury fabric company Dormeuil announced a cooperation agreement. The two sides will explore collaboration in product development and related business areas.
