Shanghai opens immersive TCM culture experience center
An immersive center dedicated to traditional Chinese medicine culture opened on Oct 23 at No 6 South Chongqing Road in Huangpu district. The center allows visitors to explore Shanghai's TCM heritage through historical artifacts and interactive digital displays.
The Qi Huang Yuan Huangpu Haipai TCM Culture Experience Center (岐黄元·黄浦海派中医文化沉浸式体验馆) showcases historical documents on the Shi School of Traumatology and medical instruments from the Lu School of Acupuncture. The center features interactive exhibits, an AI-powered robot guide, and virtual reality experiences to enhance visitor engagement. Visitors can explore the stories behind the exhibits, learn about various medicinal herbs by selecting bottles on display, and use a digital map to locate TCM clinics and explore Huangpu's diverse medical traditions.
A Fugui Xiangshan Shierling (富贵·香山十二令) store also opened at the site. Developed jointly by Da Fu Gui, a time-honored Chinese brand, and Xiangshan TCM Hospital, the store follows traditional Chinese wellness practices influenced by the changing seasons and the 24 solar terms. Its menu reflects these principles, featuring herbal drinks, pastries made with reduced sugar and oil, and Chinese-style wellness coffee. These offerings embody the traditional Chinese principle that some ingredients can serve both culinary and medicinal purposes.
