The 2024 Shanghai Suzhou Creek Half Marathon held on March 24 in Putuo district attracted around 7,000 participants, including members from the Shanghai Dragons, a dragon boating club comprising expats living in the district.

"Dragon boating on the Suzhou Creek is our regular activity, and now, running along its banks has become part of our routine," said the club members.

"We aim to shine at the Suzhou Creek Half Marathon, just like we do in dragon boating," one of the member Viacheslav added.

The Shanghai Dragons have participated in the Suzhou Creek dragon boat race for several years, demonstrating their commitment to the sport and the local community. For the team members, who have called Putuo home for up to seven years, the dragon boat race is more than a competition; it's a display of unity and the shared joy of living in Shanghai.

Putuo district will host the 20th Shanghai Suzhou Creek Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament in late May. The race has become a symbol of Putuo's rich cultural tapestry, attracting participants and spectators from diverse backgrounds.

The Shanghai Dragons are ready to showcase their skills in this traditional Chinese sport.
