China's tallest skyscraper, the iconic Shanghai Tower, is gearing up to host a women's vertical marathon on June 23. The event, the first of its kind globally, was officially announced by the organizing committee on May 10 during the Shanghai Tower Forum.
This unprecedented women's vertical marathon is being introduced as a sub-brand of the renowned Shanghai Tower Vertical Marathon, which made its debut in 2017 and has since become the world's largest event in terms of scale, score points, and venue height.
The primary objective of the women's vertical marathon is to engage the burgeoning female sports community and tap into the thriving women's sports market in a fun and inclusive manner. The organizing committee said the event aims to empower women through sports participation to enhance their involvement and influence within the sports domain.

Participants in the competition will ascend from the 79th to the 119th floor of the Shanghai Tower, a towering structure 632 meters tall, the world's second-tallest building. Before the marathon, a three-day carnival will be held to enhance the overall experience for sports enthusiasts, as highlighted by the organizing committee.
Individuals interested in participating in this historic event can register through Shanghai Tower's public WeChat account or its official website.
