Shanghai's Fengxian district will welcome elite athletes and global audiences to the Rose Regatta 2025, the world's only officially organized women's rowing competition, from May 16 to 18.

Co-organized by the Chinese Rowing Association and the Fengxian district government, the event aims to redefine women's sports excellence while boosting Shanghai's reputation as an international hub for major athletic events.

Held at the Jinhui Port, the regatta will feature nearly 300 competitors across Elite, Club, and University divisions. Athletes will race in the Women's Quadruple Sculls (1,000m) and Women's Double Sculls (500m), with strict eligibility criteria ensuring participation from only top-tier athletes.

Elite rowers include active or retired professionals and skilled amateurs, while club teams and university squads add grassroots vibrancy.

Central to the event is its celebration of female empowerment. Olympic sailing champion Xu Lijia, Asia's first gold medalist in the sport, will headline a roster of high-profile ambassadors. Organizers aim to showcase Fengxian's urban vitality, industrial innovation, and natural beauty through a platform that amplifies women's leadership in athletics.
