Qingpu dragon boat championships opens registration

As the annual Dragon Boat Festival draws near, Qingpu district has announced the commencement of its 19th Dragon Boat Open Championships and the registration channels.

Event details:

Date: May 31, 2025 (Saturday)

Location: Water Gate area, Qingpu Ring Water System

 

Events:

- Open group (12-person dragon boat): 100m & 400m straight-course races

- Open group (22-person dragon boat): 100m & 400m straight-course races

 

Participation guidelines:

Eligibility:

Individuals working or residing in Qingpu district

Ages 18-60 (born from Jan 1, 1965 to Jan 1, 2007)

 

Team composition:

- 22-person dragon boat: Maximum 28 members (1 leader, 1 coach, 1 drummer, 1 helmsman, 20 rowers, 4 substitutes) No gender restrictions

- 12-person dragon boat: Maximum 16 members (1 leader, 1 coach, 1 drummer, 1 helmsman, 10 rowers, 2 substitutes) No gender restrictions

Each athlete may only represent one team but can compete in multiple categories.

 

Health & safety requirements:

All participants must demonstrate the ability to swim 200+ meters unaided while clothed and wear life jackets during races.

Proof of personal accident insurance is required upon registration.

Athletes recovering from infectious diseases (within 30 days) are ineligible.

Team leaders must submit a "Statement of Voluntary Participation" confirming their members' health and safety.

 

Competition rules:

Races follow the Chinese Dragon Boat Association's 2020 competition rules & officiating guidelines, with event-specific adaptations.

Boats are provided; teams may bring their own paddles and life jackets (must comply with regulations).

Four lanes will be used, with heats and finals. Lane assignments and boat numbers are determined by draw.

All participants must obey the directions of the officials and wear life jackets during training and races.

Athletes must present official accreditation for check-in and competition.

Teams must prepare two triangular flags:

- Large flag: 1.6m (H) × 2.4m (W), opaque, displaying team name bilaterally (e.g., "××× Dragon Boat Team").

- Small flag: 0.6m (H) × 0.8m (W), opaque, displaying team abbreviation bilaterally.

This competition adopts a dual registration system combining online submission and written confirmation. Participating teams must:

Required documents for written registration are available for download on the "V青浦体育" official WeChat account at "gh_75733a8739c9".

All registration materials must be submitted via email to maozhenty@163.com or through the online registration portal by May 10. Notarized printed copies shall be submitted to the organizing committee during the Team Leaders' Conference. Scan the QR code to download the materials.
