Shanghai returns: FE unveils record-breaking 2025/2026 season
The Formula E World Championship and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, or FIA, announced the schedule for the 2025/2026 season on June 10. The upcoming season, marking the 12th in the championship's history, will feature a record 18 races in 12 cities across the globe.
Season 12 of the all-electric series begins on Dec 6, 2025, in the vibrant streets of Sao Paulo and will reach its thrilling climax when the curtain closes in London on Aug 15-16, 2026. The FE series will return to the Shanghai International Circuit on July 4-5, 2026.
This season promises numerous highlights, including the debut of races at the Madrid and Miami International Autodrome. Several iconic cities such as Berlin, Tokyo, and Shanghai will all host double-header events, delivering two thrilling races over a single weekend.
Marco Greil, director of Host Cities Event at Formula E, indicated that returning to China for Season 12 with a double-header in Shanghai is significant for the organization. He emphasized China's pivotal role since hosting the inaugural event in 2014 and praised the Shanghai circuit's unique layout and top-notch facilities for offering thrilling high-speed competitions. Greil also expressed enthusiasm for working with local partners and the Jiading district government to deliver an exceptional racing experience to the city's passionate fans.
