The 2025 World Snooker Shanghai Masters kicked off on the evening of July 28 at the Luwan Gymnasium in Huangpu district, marking a major highlight of the Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season

This year's tournament features a 24-player invitational format, bringing together the world's top 16-ranked players, talented Chinese pros, and wildcards.

Notably, five Chinese players ranked in the top 16, Zhao Xintong, Ding Junhui, Zhang Anda, Xiao Guodong, and Si Jiahui, are joined by Wu Yize, Pang Junxu, Yuan Sijun, and Lei Peifan, forming the largest Chinese contingent in the tournament’s history.

For the first time, the event is being held at the Luwan Gymnasium, with organizers focusing on improving competition logistics, on-site services, and the overall audience experience.

As the tournament progresses, top players such as Mark Selby, Judd Trump, and Ronnie O'Sullivan will take the stage, all contenders for the championship title.
