Shanghai to host FIP padel finals in December
The 2025 FIP Finals, the year-end championship of the International Padel Federation's global circuit, will be held in Yangpu district this December.
As the highest-level event of the FIP Tour, the finals are making their debut in Asia for the first time. The tournament features both men's and women's doubles, with each category consisting of 16 entries and matches played in a best-of-three set format.
Only the top-ranked doubles pairs from this year's FIP tournaments across all levels — Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze — are eligible to compete.
Winners of the eight Platinum and Gold events this season qualify directly for the year-ending finals. Among those who have secured spots are the recent Platinum champions in Seville, Spain. Men's doubles winners Francisco Navarro, world No 11, and Lucas Bergamini, world No 12, return to the circuit's marquee event. They are joined by women's doubles champions Alejandra Alonso De Villa, ranked 12th in the world, and Claudia Jensen, ranked world No 13.
For the first time, Asian players will compete at the highest level of the FIP Tour. The lineup will feature Zhang Bohou, the first Chinese padel player to earn FIP ranking points, and Zhai Yu, the highest-ranked active Chinese female player in the FIP standings.
