Shanghai to host first-ever FIP Gold tournament in China
The FIP Gold Shanghai will take place from June 10 to 14 in Yangpu district. This marks the first time a Gold-level tournament on the International Padel Federation, or FIP, Tour is being held in China.
The FIP Tour is divided into several international tiers based on ranking points and prize money, including FIP Platinum, FIP Gold, FIP Silver and FIP Bronze. Among these, FIP Gold sits just below the top-tier FIP Platinum and attracts highly ranked professional players from around the world.
The Shanghai tournament will feature men's and women's doubles, with 32 teams in each category competing in a knockout format. All matches will be played in a best-of-three-set format.
Last December, Shanghai made history by hosting the FIP Finals, the tour's season-ending championship, for the first time in Asia. Just six months later, FIP returns to Jiangwan Stadium, this time bringing the first FIP Gold tournament to China.
The arrival of FIP Gold Shanghai marks another step in the city's integration into the international professional padel circuit.
Ahead of the tournament, the International Padel Club at Jiangwan Stadium has undergone a full upgrade. From spectator flow and lighting systems to court design and event atmosphere, the venue has been elevated to meet international standards.
