Shanghai to host UCI Track World Championships in October
The 2026 Tissot UCI Track World Championships will be held from Oct 14 to 18 at the Shanghai Velodrome in Chongming district, marking the first time the prestigious event has been staged on the Chinese mainland.
Inaugurated in 1893, the championships are the UCI's premier annual track cycling event. A total of 22 world titles will be awarded, 11 in men's events and 11 in women's events.
The program includes all Olympic disciplines, such as keirin, Madison, omnium, sprint, team pursuit, and team sprint, as well as non-Olympic events, including the elimination race, individual pursuit, points race, 1-kilometer time trial, and scratch race.
Approximately 400 athletes from about 45 countries and regions are expected to compete. In addition to deciding the world titles, results in the Olympic disciplines will count toward qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
