National Cable Waterski & Wakeboard Championships return to Fengxian
The 2026 National Cable Waterski & Wakeboard Championships, also serving as the National Fitness Games' Shanghai stop, are set to take place from Aug 28 to 30 in the Fengxian Bay area. This marks the second year in a row that the event is held in Fengxian district.
A highlight of last year's competition was its inclusive approach, which lowered the entry barriers typical of traditional competitive sports. The event featured three categories: open, mass, and youth (U16/U13), and adopted the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's officiating system, with guidance from international judges.
This ensured professional standards and significantly increased public participation, drawing nearly 70 top athletes from across Asia. These innovations have laid a solid foundation for this year's edition and its continued growth.
Beyond the thrilling competition, the district is offering a one-stop cultural and tourism experience for visitors, blending race viewing with water sports, local cuisine, and scenic sunset views. Activities also include windsurfing, sailing, jet skiing, kayaking, coastal cycling, and nighttime experiences at the Fisherman's Wharf.
