Eighteen international students from countries including Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Indonesia at Shanghai University experienced the Chinese intangible cultural heritage of Xuhang straw plaiting in Xuhang town, Shanghai, on Nov 5.

Under the guidance of an instructor, the students learned about the history, materials, and basic techniques behind this intangible cultural heritage. After weaving their own straw vases, the students felt a quiet sense of pride and satisfaction.
