Does a visa refusal from a third country affect my eligibility for China's 240-hour visa-free transit?
Q: I am an Indonesian passport holder planning to visit Shanghai for tourism. I want to ask about my eligibility for the 240-hour visa-free transit policy.
I understand that one of the eligibility requirements is that an applicant is ineligible if they have been denied a visa within the past five years.
I recently applied for an Australian tourist visa and was unfortunately refused. I have never applied for or been refused a Chinese visa.
Could you please confirm whether an Australian visa refusal would make me ineligible for China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy?
A: Based on your description, an Indonesian passport valid for at least three months meets the passport requirements for China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy.
Please also note that an Australian visa refusal does not affect your eligibility to apply for 240-hour visa-free transit.
Final eligibility is subject to assessment by the immigration authorities at the port of entry.
