Qingpu district has begun comprehensive preparations for transportation, landscaping, and tourism services ahead of the 48th WorldSkills Competition, aiming to ensure a spectacular global celebration of vocational skills.

The 2026 WorldSkills Competition will be held in Shanghai from Sept 22 to 27, with the official competitions taking place from Sept 23 to 26 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Qingpu.

The district has optimized traffic arrangements by upgrading surrounding parking facilities around the venue, providing 20 temporary parking lots with approximately 1,160 coach berths and 3,200 parking spaces.

Designated pickup and drop-off zones for ride-hailing services, along with access permits and freight scheduling, will help ensure safe and orderly transportation throughout the event.

The district has also been revamped to highlight Jiangnan-style architecture and urban character, reflecting the region south of the lower Yangtze River. High-quality floral displays and carefully selected plant varieties will help ensure vibrant blooms throughout the competition.

Landscape upgrades around the core competition zone will incorporate WorldSkills symbols, local urban imagery, and vocational-skill culture.

A range of tourist routes has been launched, featuring one- and two-day itineraries focused on history and culture, urban leisure, and rural eco-tourism.

The routes connect attractions including Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, Liantang Ancient Town, and Songze Site Museum.

WorldSkills competitors and spectators can enjoy discounted admission to scenic spots, shopping rebates, and homestay discounts at designated venues in Qingpu.

The district will also issue 12 million yuan worth of consumption coupons.
