Academician-backed sci-tech projects power Hongqiao's innovation model
The Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District is developing a collaborative innovation model based on "R&D in Hongqiao, manufacturing across the Yangtze River Delta region, and global application".
The goal is to form a complete industrial chain from scientific research to commercialization.
The Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician and Expert Achievement Display and Transformation Center, which moved to Hongqiao's core area in January, has made progress in connecting basic research, technological breakthroughs and industrial applications.
The center showcases cutting-edge innovations by academicians, major national engineering achievements and the industrialization of academician-led startups.
Several major sci-tech projects have already achieved breakthroughs. Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Shi Jianlin's inorganic nanocatalytic tumor therapy technology has entered Phase I clinical trials with no toxic side effects reported.
CAE academician Tu Shandong's aero-engine component enhancement technology has extended the service life of domestic civil aero-engines from 15,000 to 40,000 cycles. The technology has been industrialized in Hongqiao, providing strong support for the production of domestic commercial aviation engines.
