African friendship cities of Shanghai
The main goals of establishing friendship cities are to exchange experiences in culture, economy, innovation, and urban management, and especially to promote people-to-people cooperation.
As of October 2023, Shanghai and its districts have signed friendship city agreements with six cities or regions in five African countries.
