Registration begins for inaugural Shanghai Sailing Open

The inaugural Shanghai Sailing Open will be held from March 26 to 31 at Dishui Lake in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.

The competitions will be at the J80 and ILCA6 levels.

The stability and ease of operation make the J80 yachts suitable for public participation, while ILCA6 sailboats are used in major events such as the Olympic Games.

Registration guide:

1. Competition categories

1) ILCA6 Level

- Participants will be invited by the organizing committee only.

- A maximum of 35 sailboats will be accepted.

2) J80 Level

-Participants will be invited by the organizing committee and open to the public.

- A maximum of 25 yachts will be accepted.

- Each yacht is limited to eight people (including the leader and coach). The number of people on board shall not be less than four.

- Sailors must have qualifications certified by China's Maritime Safety Administration, the Chinese Yachting Association (CYA), the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the American Sailing Association (ASA), or other equivalent organizations.

2. All participants must be at least 16 years old at the time of the event.

3. Registration will close at midnight on March 3.

4. Interested parties can scan the following QR code to download the application form and submit it to competition@shsailingopen.com.

5. Qualification results will be sent by the organizing committee by email. Qualifying teams must submit payment before March 8 or will be deemed as a withdrawal.

6. Sailors cannot be altered during the competition.

7. Fees

1) The ILCA6 level does not charge a participation fee.

2) The J80 level fee is 8,000 yuan ($1,112) per yacht, including participation, yachts usage, and meals.

3) Fees are non-refundable after being submitted.

8. Insurance

-Each contestant is required to purchase personal accident insurance (including medical insurance) with coverage no less than 500,000 yuan.

-The insurance should be valid during the competition period.

9. Awards

-The Open will award trophies to the top three finishers in each category.

-The top eight in each category will be awarded certificates and bonuses.
