Why do they choose to work in Shanghai?
The demonstration project exhibition of the Yangtze River Delta public employment service and the Shanghai human resources cooperation and negotiation conference were launched on Aug 28.
At the concurrent job fair for key enterprises, nearly 500 employers offered over 6,000 job positions, receiving over 11,000 resumes on-site, with nearly 3,600 people reaching preliminary agreements.
In recent years, Shanghai has focused on increasing employment and income for labor forces, promoting employment assistance and skill enhancement.
Additionally, in the city's 2024 graduate employment service action plan, relevant departments provide continuous employment services for 2024 graduates who have left school but are remain unemployed, as well as registered unemployed youth. These services include policy implementation, recruitment support, skill improvement, and rights protection.
The job fair held during the conference focused on the employment needs of key enterprises and youth groups such as university graduates.
Eight special zones were set up for sectors including semiconductor integrated circuits and new materials, biopharmaceuticals, mechanical equipment, domestic services, and elderly care.
An online recruitment section was also established on the "Shanghai Public Employment Recruitment New Platform." (上海公共就业招聘新平台)
The organizers conducted live-streamed recruitment activities through platforms like the official Douyin account, WeChat Video account, and Bilibili account of the Shanghai Municipal and Social Security Bureau, and "Alipay Employment," attracting nearly 80,000 participants.
"We want to hire hardware development engineers and technical personnel needed in the production workshops. The monthly salary for engineers can range from 12,000 yuan ($1688.19) to 17,000 yuan," said Xu Lijing, the HR manager of an optoelectronics technology company.
The job fair also featured career guidance and policy consultation and set up an intelligent employment experience area, offering digital product experiences like AI recruitment assistants and AI "one-sentence job postings."
Currently, more than 300 self-service machines have been deployed throughout the city, with plans to cover all 16 districts of Shanghai by the end of the year.
