Shanghai has introduced targeted measures to address labor shortages and job-seeking challenges during the Spring Festival, with a focus on stabilizing employment and supporting businesses throughout the holiday season.

Launched on Jan 11, 2025, the measures include job fairs, employment subsidies, and tailored enterprise assistance. The city also offers specialized support for individuals facing employment difficulties, including those with disabilities.

To meet workforce demands, the first group of migrant workers, coordinated through partnerships with provinces like Yunnan, Henan, and Anhui, arrived in Shanghai on Jan 4. These workers are helping fill critical roles in logistics, manufacturing, domestic services, and delivery industries.

Shanghai plans to host over 300 recruitment events before and after the Spring Festival holiday, providing more than 100,000 job opportunities. Key enterprises will receive customized services, such as skill training and recruitment assistance.

A job fair during the measures' launch featured parent-friendly positions, a new employment model for workers with caregiving responsibilities for children under 12 years old. These roles offer flexible schedules and work environments, drawing significant interest from job seekers.
