2025 goals: Hongkou district to upgrade development of North Bund
Editor's note: 2025 marks the final year of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). During their annual "two sessions", Shanghai's districts outlined their agendas for the year ahead. Let's take a closer look.
The Hongkou district of Shanghai will focus on developing the North Bund area while building itself as the cultural hub of the city, according to the work report released at the seventh Session of the 17th Hongkou District People's Congress on Jan 8.
The report stresses the importance of driving the district's work through innovation, reform and opening-up in 2025. The North Bund development and construction will serve as a key engine, while the modernization of urban governance will safeguard the work.
Hongkou district is renowned as the origin of Shanghai-style culture, an advanced culture and as a hub of cultural celebrities. The district will continue to strengthen its influence in these three aspects.
The report also highlights the need to balance development with security, expand domestic demand and boost consumption in order to achieve high-quality development.
