Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) recently held the closing ceremony of the third Shanghai Summer School RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) Marine Culture International Program and the fifth SHOU Global Summer School.

The program was held online from June 1 to 2. In addition to Chinese courses, it also featured lectures on marine culture and activities that involved viewing Shanghai and SHOU virtually.

This year, 359 students from 16 countries and regions completed the online study, during which they recited ancient Chinese poems, drew Chinese paintings, practiced Chinese calligraphy, and learned Chinese songs.

Edward Wen from Indonesia said at the closing ceremony that he had participated in three sessions of the Shanghai Summer School Program organized by SHOU. He added that it was this program that allowed him to learn more about aquaculture, and this influenced his choice of further study. In the autumn semester of this year, he will return to SHOU to begin his bachelor's degree program and major in aquaculture.

Teacher representative Cao Yuan praised the students for their positive learning attitude and excellent performance. She expressed hope that this program could help students broaden their horizons and become more interested in Chinese culture.

Serving as a platform for educational and cultural exchanges, the program was organized by SHOU and sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

The annual Shanghai Summer School is focused on Chinese language and culture, and is aimed at attracting more outstanding high-level foreign students to experience China, learn Chinese, and study in Shanghai.
