A new chapter in cultural exchange and leadership training began on July 14 with the opening of the Shanghai Summer School "SCO Program 2025" at East China Normal University.

This year, the program welcomed 40 participants from six Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Over the next four weeks, the students will not only advance their Chinese language skills but also gain deeper insights into China's vision of building a global community with a shared future. Through a series of cultural courses, themed lectures, round-table forums, and National Day exhibitions, participants explore how mutual understanding promotes international collaboration.

To help bring Chinese culture to life, the program also includes creative competitions and cultural field trips. Students will experience China's rich heritage and modern spirit through activities ranging from traditional crafts to exploring the vibrant cityscape of Shanghai, often affectionately called the "Magic City."

The SCO Member Youth Leadership Program is a core component of the broader Shanghai Summer School initiative. Now in its 14th year, the program has been hosted by East China Normal University since its launch in 2010 and has welcomed students from 36 universities across the SCO region.
