Shanghai summer school program on textiles wraps up at Donghua University
The 2025 Shanghai Summer School, themed around promoting global cooperation in the textile industry among countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, concluded at Donghua University on July 13. The program provided international students with valuable insights into the textile industry and its business models.
Hosted by the Glorious Sun School of Business and Management at the university, the program featured trips to technology companies, specialized museums, and hands-on activities for students, allowing them to apply theoretical learning in real-world scenarios.
Shen Bin, deputy head of the school, commended the students for their achievements. Reflecting on the study trips, Shen expressed hopes that the students would leverage the knowledge they've absorbed during the program and become key contributors to advancing cooperation in the textile industry under the BRI framework .
On June 27, international students visited the Shanghai Textile Museum, where they learned about the history of China's textile industry. The cultural relics, textile machines, and delicate fabrics on display showcased the rich cultural heritage and how technologies have transformed the industry.
Another trip to SAIC Volkswagen immersed students in a new chapter of intelligent manufacturing. They had the opportunity to witness the highly efficient production line and the operational model of the company. They also engaged in discussions with staff members, gaining a better understanding of the industry practices and innovations.
To conclude the program, they visited the Shengze Oriental Textile City in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and engaged in discussions with executives. They learned about cross-border trade in the industry, including strategies for global expansion and risk management.
