Volunteers enhance cultural exchange at Shanghai International Flower Show
The Shanghai International Flower Show, running from April 18 to May 11, has seen a group of dedicated foreign language volunteers help enrich the experience for both Chinese and international visitors at the main exhibition area in Xintiandi, Huangpu district.
To deepen the appreciation of international guests for the show's unique charm, Middle Huaihai Road subdistrict has organized a team of foreign language volunteers, drawing enthusiastic participation from foreign students.
Anzhelika Ghazaryan from Armenia expressed her joy, saying, "Encountering this vibrant flower show in central Shanghai is truly captivating! Volunteering has deepened my love for Shanghai."
Anzhelika, an international relations graduate student at Shanghai International Studies University, is among the foreign volunteers bringing a global charm to the show.
Fluent in English and Russian, with proficiency in Chinese and French, she aims to connect with visitors from diverse backgrounds, bridging cultures through language.
First-time show attendee Mai Ramadan Abdeltawab Abdelhamid from Egypt shared her excitement, "Such exhibitions are rare in my country. This well-organized show is truly fascinating."
Mai sees this as an opportunity to explore Shanghai life and engage with locals, with the goal of authentically understanding and sharing insights about the city.
Anzhelika's decision to volunteer stems from her desire to give back and her belief in the power of language. She aims to further integrate into the city and showcase cultural diversity through volunteering.
Mai shares the same sentiment, seeing the show as a valuable chance to connect with Chinese residents and gain deeper insights into their lives.
