Shanghai's Changning district is accelerating its livestreaming economy, building on its strengths in fashion and consumer goods.

As one of Shanghai's first livestreaming hubs, the district is integrating livestreaming with various industries to create a thriving ecosystem.

With the implementation of the Three-Year Action Plan for the High-Quality Development of Livestreaming Economy, Changning is cultivating a dynamic environment for livestreaming businesses.

By strengthening regulations, expanding partnerships, and supporting talent development, the district aims to become a top destination for livestreaming e-commerce and services.

From January to September this year, livestreaming retail sales in Changning exceeded 60 billion yuan ($8.4 billion), accounting for nearly 20 percent of Shanghai's total.

Changning is focused on three main areas: the platform economy, fashion and consumer goods, and livestreaming talent.

The district's long-standing advantages, including its early establishment of Shanghai's first "internet + lifestyle services" zone in 2016, have positioned it as a leading player in e-commerce.

Currently, it is home to more than 30-billion-yuan e-commerce platforms, alongside a growing number of livestreaming agencies and service providers.

By organizing events such as pop-up livestreaming activities and cross-border shopping festivals, Changning is steadily expanding the applications of livestreaming.

The district is also fostering deeper integration between livestreaming and various sectors, including fashion, culture, tourism, and sports, creating extraordinary consumer experiences and solidifying its position as a leading livestreaming hub in China.
