Huangpu hosts New Year conference for major foreign-invested enterprises

Huangpu district of Shanghai hosted a New Year gathering for major foreign-invested enterprises at the Bund City Hall Plaza on Jan 13. Attendees included the district's Party secretary Gao Yun, district head Xu Huili, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce He Dongbin, and president of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association Huang Feng. Over 30 representatives from major foreign-invested enterprises were invited to attend.

At the event, Gao Yun emphasized China's unwavering commitment to opening-up, highlighting key tasks such as expanding high-level opening-up and stabilizing foreign trade and investment. Huangpu, as one of Shanghai's most open and international districts, has long been committed to creating a fertile environment for foreign investment, with foreign enterprises contributing over 40 percent to the regional economy every year.

Gao Yun shared new opportunities in Huangpu, including strengthened regional functions, ongoing urban renewal, and improved services for foreign enterprises. Xu Huili noted Huangpu's economic achievements in 2024, and pledged to accelerate the construction of key functional areas and promote innovation in key fields.

The event also featured a promotional video showcasing Huangpu's investment advantages and potential, as well as presentations by Deloitte China and representatives of Japanese companies operating in Shanghai. Participants were also given a tour of the City Hall, showcasing Huangpu's commitment to tradition and innovation.
