Shanghai's Huangpu district recently hosted a conference to advance its efforts in business environment optimization for 2025. Local enterprise representatives were invited to share their experience of doing business here and propose their suggestions.

Germany-based Vaillant relocated its Chinese headquarters to Huangpu in 2015. Over the past 10 years, it has thrived thanks to Huangpu's efficient government services, well-developed infrastructure, and open, inclusive business atmosphere, said Yu Lili, Vaillant's aftersales service director.

With the support of the Huangpu district government, Vaillant has become one of the first groups of companies in Shanghai to benefit from the national home appliance purchase subsidy in 2024 and was selected among the 15th Shanghai Key Trademark Protection List last August.

Zhang Shen, a senior manager of China Offshore Engineering Equipment Technology Development, also spoke highly of Huangpu's comprehensive and thoughtful services.

China Offshore Engineering Equipment Technology Development, established in Huangpu in 2021, is a State-owned company.

From the support in office area coordination, overseas talent introduction, and talent settlement upon the company's establishment, to tailored services like summer daycare for employees' children, and specialized symposiums on talent policies, Huangpu has consistently provided valuable assistance to facilitate the company's development.

Han Chunyan, executive partner of Jin Mao Law Firm, cited Huangpu's sound legal environment, which features clear and easily accessible laws and regulations, along with standardized and transparent enforcement.

Han advised Huangpu to introduce more measures to cultivate local high-end talent, catering to the growing demand from enterprises for international legal services. Key measures include encouraging local law firms to collaborate with universities and internationally renowned law firms and develop talent training programs in areas like cross-border investment, international trade, and international intellectual property.

Moreover, Han also suggested that relevant authorities should establish a more flexible and effective legal interpretation mechanism to address legal applicability issues arising in emerging industries, making the legal environment more predictable and reliable for businesses.
