Intercable Automotive Solutions, a stand-alone business unit of the Irish-American auto technology giant Aptiv, opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters and new plant in Shanghai's Jiading district, with a total investment of more than 500 million yuan ($69.65 million).

The facility will focus on the R&D and production of battery connection systems for new energy vehicles, providing efficient and safe high-voltage power distribution solutions for leading automakers at home and abroad. Its sales revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan within 10 years after going into operation.

An industry-leading provider of high-voltage busbars and interconnect solutions, Intercable Automotive Solutions has established plants across Asia, Europe, and North America, with its products widely used in various NEV sectors. In 2022, Aptiv acquired the firm to strengthen its capabilities in automotive electrification amid a surging industry trend.

The new NEV project in Jiading will leverage Intercable Automotive Solutions' five decades of expertise in designing, developing, and manufacturing high-quality automotive electrical products, as well as its strong localized production capability in China.

The company will also take full advantage of the mature supply chain and supportive facilities in Jiading to deepen cooperation with local automakers while advancing scaled development and sci-tech innovations along with Aptiv's industrial cluster in Shanghai.
