Ubique Asia sets up Shanghai base
Ubique Asia announced that it had established a base at the LOOP Star Ring Center in the Minhang district of Shanghai.
The company also signed a strategic framework agreement with Shanghai Adlink Intelligence Technology Co Ltd at a Sino-foreign business exchange event held at the Holiday Inn Shanghai NECC.
Ubique is a software-based automation platform developed by Austria-based TTTech Digital Solutions. Ubique Asia focuses on bringing the platform to machine manufacturers in Asia, helping the industry transition from hardware-dependent systems to software-defined machines.
Zhang Xiaohui, managing director of Ubique Asia, said China is the world's largest manufacturing base and its industrial automation market was projected to exceed 280 billion yuan ($41.86 billion) in 2025.
He said there was an urgent need to shift to software-defined machines.
Ubique Asia has outlined a three-stage development strategy for China, Zhang said. Over the next one to two years, the company plans to build a local team, localize its platform in Chinese, and secure three to five reference customers.
Over the next three to five years, it plans to establish centers in East and South China, develop at least 10 ecosystem partners, and raise China's contribution to at least 20 percent of its global revenue.
In the longer term, the company aims to establish TTTech Group's second-largest R&D center worldwide in Shanghai and bring solutions developed in China to European markets, Zhang said.
Ubique's strength stems from TTTech Group, which was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology). Its time-triggered technology keeps latency jitter at the microsecond level.
TTTech has been closely involved in projects including NASA's Orion spacecraft, the Airbus A380, the Boeing 787, and the Ariane 6 rocket. In 2022, the group established TTTech Digital Solutions to focus on open automation for machines.
Xiao Weirong, strategic advisor to Ubique's Shanghai operations, said industrial automation is undergoing profound change as advances in IT-driven automation software converge with the growing use of AI in real-time control, moving the industry toward greater autonomy.
