Medical data firm BaseBit sets up Yangtze River Delta base in Putuo
BaseBit, a medical data company serving clients including AstraZeneca and Roche, has opened its Yangtze River Delta base in Putuo district, Shanghai, aiming to expand medical data sharing.
The company recently moved into the Shanghai-Nanjing Collaborative Innovation Center in Putuo. It builds and operates DataScope, a data exploration tool, and DataNova, a trusted data space. The firm governs more than 700 medical and health insurance data fields within a secure domain under the principle that raw data stays in place while data is usable but not visible.
BaseBit has partnered with public data operators in over 10 provinces and cities and more than 20 leading domestic pharmaceutical companies, establishing a closed-loop commercial model for medical data across seven provinces and municipalities. AstraZeneca, Roche, and other major drugmakers use its data exploration and real-world data services.
Luo Zhen, general manager of BaseBit, said the company chose Putuo for its data ecosystem rather than for cheaper rent. "Putuo's efforts to promote secure medical data sharing align closely with our business goals. The ecosystem of data element providers driven by the national data industry cluster also provides fertile ground for us to grow."
Last year, the National Data Administration launched 63 trusted data space pilot projects. BaseBit is assuming responsibility for the drug industry trusted data space project initiated by the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, aiming to connect data sources in Jiangsu province and the wider Yangtze River Delta. It has established links with Nanjing and Wuxi and is working toward a signing with Changzhou.
